Join the Church Choir
Our RSCM-affiliated choir sings for the weekly Sunday services, with a monthly Choral Evensong, when we are joined by a wider group of singers, as well as singing at important annual festivals like Christmas and Easter.
We also sing for weddings and funerals, and have a wide repertoire of suitable material to enhance these milestone events.
At least twice a year we visit a cathedral or minster church to sing their weekend services when the resident choir is on holiday.
The church choir is directed by Simon Shaw - please send all music enquiries to
Our accomplished organist is Peter Spencer, who accompanies the choir and plays organ music for services and rehearsals.
We welcome prospective new singers - whether they can join us regularly or occasionally.
Some music reading ability is useful, but voices do not need to be exceptional. Enjoying singing is the main qualification!
We rehearse in the side chapel every Thursday at 7.30pm
If you like to sing, come along to try it out - what have you got to lose?
As well as the local volunteer singers, we have a Choral Scholars scheme, whereby local college students can receive an honorarium towards their music tuition for singing with us during term time. Choral Scholar vacancies currently exist - make contact with Simon for more details.
